Privacy Policy
Fingerjoy Studios built QR Code Reader & Generator as a free and freemium utility app for iPhone and iPad. This page explains our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the iOS app or visit qrreader.app.
1. On-Device QR & Barcode Processing
When you scan a QR code or barcode using your camera, photo library, or Files in the iOS app—or when you use the free in-browser QR and barcode tools on qrreader.app—decoding and code generation happen locally on your device. We do not upload your camera feed, photos, Wi-Fi passwords, vCard contacts, or scan history to our servers.
2. Permissions Used by the iOS App
- Camera: Required solely to scan QR codes and 1D/2D barcodes in real time. Camera frames are processed on-device and never transmitted to us.
- Photo Library: Used only when you choose to scan a QR code from an image or save a generated QR code or barcode to your Photos.
- Contacts: Used only when you choose to import a contact to generate a vCard/MeCard QR code or save a scanned contact card to your address book.
- Face ID / Touch ID: Used locally via Apple's LocalAuthentication framework if you enable Passcode Lock in Settings.
3. Information Collection and Third-Party Services
The free version of the iOS app displays advertisements and collects anonymous crash and usage diagnostics so we can improve stability. Third-party SDKs used in the iOS app may collect device identifiers (where permitted by your iOS App Tracking Transparency choice), coarse IP-based location, and crash logs:
- Google AdMob (advertising in the free tier; disabled for Pro and Remove Ads users)
- Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (anonymous stability and crash reporting)
4. Log Data & Cookies
When an error occurs in the app, crash diagnostics may include your device model, iOS version, app configuration, and the time and date of the crash. On qrreader.app, our free browser tools run entirely in your browser and do not use tracking cookies to store the content of the QR codes or barcodes you generate or scan.
5. Children's Privacy
Our services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can delete it immediately.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
Effective date: October 25, 2026
